Ottawa, ON – On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, Conservative Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Chong held a phone call with Representative Hala Abou-Hassira for the Palestinian General Delegation in Canada.
Chong highlighted several items with Representative Abou-Hassira, including:
- Chong congratulated Representative Abou-Hassira on her recent appointment to Canada earlier this year in March.
- Conservatives recognize the Palestinian right to self-determination and support a two-state solution as part of a comprehensive and lasting peace settlement.
- Conservatives recognize the Palestinian Authority as the government in the West Bank and Gaza, and Palestine Liberation Organization as the political representative of the Palestinian people.
- Chong reaffirmed Conservative support for Israel, and its right to live in peace and security with its neighbours.
Representative Abou-Hassira congratulated MP Chong on his appointment. They discussed The Abrahamic Accords, the Conservative’s commitment to move the Canadian embassy to Jerusalem and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
