Ottawa, ON – On Thursday, November 5, Conservative Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Chong held a phone call with H.E. Ahmed Abu Zeid, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Canada, about Canada-Egypt relations.
MP Chong highlighted several items with the Ambassador, including:
- The longstanding diplomatic relationship that Canada has had with Egypt since 1954.
- Canada’s growing trade ties with Egypt.
- Canada’s cooperation with Egypt in the area of international peacekeeping, including the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai.
H.E. Ahmed Abu Zeid congratulated MP Chong on his appointment. They discussed the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the on-going conflict in Libya and the Abraham Accords. MP Chong conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming opening of the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Greater Cairo.
