Ottawa, ON – On October 25, 2022, the Hon. Michael Chong, Conservative Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Yuliya Kovaliv, Ambassador of Ukraine, about Canada-Ukraine relations.

MP Chong highlighted several items with the Ambassador including:

  • Conservatives’ belief that Canada should displace Russian natural gas in Europe through increased LNG exports, thereby cutting off a source of funding for Putin’s military.

Ambassador Yuliya Kovaliv and MP Chong discussed the war in Ukraine and the effect sanctions are having on Russia. They also discussed ways in which Canada can maintain its support for Ukraine. They agreed to continue the dialogue on Canada-Ukraine relations.
